28 Glorious Christmas Traditions – Although not really about productivity, its nice to take a break and simply enjoy Christmas.  Here are some essential Christmas tasks you can do to get into the spirit of things.

Freebie – 30 Ways in 30 Days to Redesign Your Life and Travel the World – This ebook is free for a limited time.  If you read yesterdays post about working anywhere, then, this is a must read by one of the true experts in lifestyle design.

Effortless Writing: How to Overcome Writer’s Block – A very long but well thought out post about writing.  Make sure you take a look at the tools David recommends to block out distractions.

Web.AppStorm recently held a giveaway where 5 Task.fm pro accounts were up for grabs.  Well that contest is closed but all through December they will be holding more contests with lots and lots of freebies up for grabs.  Make sure you subcribe to their blog to keep updated.

Finally, I’ve been putting together a Twitter list of all the blogs that I read and it covers lifestyle design, productivity and GTD.  Follow the list here.  But what I really need are your suggestions of people to include.

1. Lifehacker

This first entry is almost required reading.  I’m sure many of you time-saving gurus already know about Lifehacker, but in case you don’t, I’m putting it on the top of the list.  Essentially their site covers just about anything that falls into “getting things done” or “lifehacks.”  They’re all about finding ways to make everyday life easier and sometimes more fun.

2. MakeUseOf

MakeUseOf employs a small army of bloggers to seek out the hottest free software on the web.  Whether it’s a free MMORPG, some great time-management software, a unique web service, or something you wouldn’t have thought existed – they’ve logged it in and reviewed it.  Let me put up a little disclaimer.  I used to write for MakeUseOf a while ago so I may be a little biased.  Give them a chance; though, and I think you’ll be a little biased too!

A little tip, there are actually two parts to MakeUseOf.  ”The directory” is shorter and catalogs just about everything the staff can find.  The longer articles tend to go into more depth about a product.  If you type in just about any topic,  you’ll probably find some free, useful software.  If you discover some software elsewhere, search it on MakeUseOf before you download to see if it’s really worth your time.

3. Unclutterer

This last one is a gem in the rough, so to speak.  While a lot of people operate blogs similar to Lifehacker, few do it with such consistently stellar and readable articles.  Also, I love the unique voice of Unclutterer’s writing.

Unclutterer focuses on organization and consolidation strategies.  Their ideas are largely analogue (read: in real life, not on your computer), but, as much as we might wish it were otherwise, that is how we spend most of our lives.  The Unclutterer staff are big fans of IKEA and make interesting suggestions on how to re-purpose items purchased there.  Also, they regularly feature stellar, reader-submitted workspaces and answer reader questions directly.
