6805221_d1acd1c82bThe ability to get more done at work is a skill which you need to hone in on and develop as you grow within your company.  In becoming more productive, you will in turn attract the attention of your supervisors and allow yourself stand out as an employee who values their job and the work which they complete.  Many of us are guilty of doing tasks throughout the day which distract us from the work we need to be focused on, leading to an overall production time of only 35 percent within an 8 hour day which is a statistic that we need to work to change.

Set goals

Partitioning off specific times and dates in which you want to complete various tasks is important in becoming more productive overall.  This way, you can set smaller goals for yourself to complete every week when working on a project and work more diligently to meet these goals.

Avoid web browsing

One of the biggest time-wasters is the easy accessibility of web browsing which allows you to take a few minutes to check your personal email or chat with an old friend on a messaging service.  Simply cutting this out of your day saves almost an hour or more every day that could be spent doing more work on projects which will impress your supervisors and get you recognized as a dedicated employee.

Organize

Becoming organized within your work place allows you to complete tasks timely and efficiently since you are not running around the office looking for a stapler or hole-puncher.  By simply keeping your desk tidy and even your computer free of spam and extraneous documents, you will be able to go about completing projects in a much faster manner.

Turn off alerts

From alarms to your cell phone ringer, all extra alerts which you have one will only serve to distract you.  Unless it is an emergency, there should be no reason to take a phone call or respond to a text at work, especially if you are on a deadline.  Furthermore, an alert can serve to throw you off your work pace and will take time to recover.

Discover your prime time

Everyone has their peak time in which they are most productive, so by saving your most difficult tasks for this time you will in effect be more productive overall.  Most people are found to be more productive when they first come into work, which is why they reserve the harder assignments for this time instead of 30 minutes before the day ends.

Simply implementing a few small habits into your workday will increase your productivity as a whole and allow you to finish your projects in a more efficient manner without making a drastic change to your work lifestyle.

Anthony,

What app do you use for member management?

When I registered it sent me a dynamic email what app does that?

Also, do you build your site off of a framework like Drupal or all hand coded?

Seth, Task.fm is a rather complex app – all 100% custom coded. Its not possible to build something like this off a cms like Drupal.
